Gramatik Performs at Fox Theater

Brooklyn based EDM producer and DJ, Gramatik, will be performing at Oakland's Fox Theater on Thursday, February 15th, with special guests Haywyre, Møme, and Balkan Bump. The concert will mark the halfway point in Gramatik's RE:Coil tour and the only time he'll visit the Bay during this rotation. Doors open at 8:00 at tickets cost $35.00 each.

Gramatik has gained moderate popularity for his eclectic sound and vintage sampling. The Dj implements a variety of band instruments from trumpet, saxophone and guitar to accompany his spin table in live performances. Some of his biggest tracks like Hit That Jive, remix musicians from the swing era like Nat King Cole, or Glenn Miller and His Orchestra.

On stage, Gramatik brings a convulsive energy, and the audience can barely keep still. Tracks like Aymo and Irfan, produced by Balkan Bump have an exotic charm, blending Greek tinged brass with Gramatik's electronic beats.

Haywyre is an excellent producer in his own right, having accrued a following from his fast fingers  on the keyboard. His sound can quickly bounce between jazz to samba back to electronic, blending each genre so smoothly with an irresistible funk.

French Dj and guitarist Møme brought powerful guitar solo's to fill in the bridges between Gramatik's songs. His bluesy riffs gave the concert a ton of soul, that sometimes an electric drum kit can't.

Each with very different sounds and musical roots, Gramatik, like the maestro in the old days of swing, perfectly arranged and navigated the music of the night, so that any two genre's danced beautifully and gracefully while we got lost in the wild live performance.

Possibly the best live music I have heard, I would highly recommend to all EDM fans or lovers of fusion music, to check him out.
